Bloemsec, the well-known and trusted security firm in the heart of the Free State that specialises in Alarm Installations, Armed Response, CCTV, Access Control, Outside Protection and Security Assessment, is celebrating 20 years of success this year.
The firm was founded by Willie Coetzee on 1 March 2002 and it has since grown from strength to strength. Today it is a reputable security firm in Bloemfontein, which has become what it is through the resilience and teamwork of its directors, managers and staff members, and the loyal clients who are part of the Bloemsec family.
The Best of Bloemfontein Award-winning Armed Response and Guarding Firm believes in building bonds with its clients and has always gone the extra mile to make each neighbourhood feel extra safe. Over the 20 years, they have grown from just a handful of staff members to more than 100 guarding and armed response staff. The Bloemsec fleet has grown to nine armed response vehicles.
The family-owned business has successfully launched its most cost-effective and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence for surveillance solutions, called Bloem Eye, and recently also launched the Bloemsec App, which allows clients to have a mobile panic button on their smartphone. The addition of these features forms part of the progress the business has made over the years.
Liesel Coetzee Thomas, a director and the co-founder of Bloemsec, says: “That first day will always stay with me. Delia Bukes, a director at Bloemsec, says: “I just got back to South Africa and thought I would have to start working somewhere. I remember every moment of that first day at Bloemsec. My salary was a full R1600 and I started working in the control room and shifts. I would not lie if I said at that point I was not so excited, because in the evenings when everyone hung out at Seconds then I had to work! But as always, the Lord knew what He was planning for me. There are a few who understand my passion, loyalty and determination for Bloemsec and there are some people who have played a major role and/or part in my career and still do. To them, I owe a lot. Today I am thankful for the 20 years I have shared with Bloemsec. I am glad I stuck it through and feel honoured to celebrate this milestone.”

Dylan Coetzee, die seun van Willie Coetzee, onthou dat hulle van kleins af blootgestel is aan sekuriteit en dat Bloemsec ‘n naam is wat altyd met trots in hul huis gebruik word.
“Ons het nog nie eers geweet van ‘n selfoon nie, maar Bloemsec se nommer 051-4-30-20-10 het ons uit ons kop uit geken!” vertel hy.
Dylan sê hy onthou ook dat hulle minstens een keer per week by die kantoor ‘n draai gemaak het en daar het hulle baie gesien en geleer. Maar op daardie ouderdom het hulle nie regtig baie daarvan verstaan nie.“
In 2019 het ek by Bloemsec begin werk. Soos met elke besigheid het ek onder begin. Ek weet ek het groot skoene om vol te staan, maar ek sal in dit groei met elke bietjie ondervinding wat ek kry. Ek is trots om te kan sê dat Bloemsec nou deel is van my lewe vir 20 jaar,” sê hy.
Die feit dat Dylan nou by Bloemsec werk en die vloot- en algemene bestuurder is, spreek van hoe familie-georiënteerd die besigheid werklik is. “Ek sal my pa trots maak en sy naam altyd hoog hou. Ek wil ook net dankie sê vir my ma en stiefpa wat my met goeie waardes en beginsels groot gemaak het. Hulle is vandag my grootste rolmodelle.”
